Dual/Bilingual/ESL Language Programs
Dual/Bilingual and ESL programs are available for students from K3-12th grade. Students who participate in these programs have the advantage and opportunity to master both English and Spanish. As a result, students will expand their educational abilities by reading, writing and thinking critically, especially in our diverse community. These programs are design to help students connect effectively with others while enhancing decision-making, problem solving skills, and expanding future career opportunities. Hidalgo Independent School District offers three models for all second language learners enrolled in our District.

Early College High School-Associate's Program
In the spring of 2005, Hidalgo High School transformed into an Early College High School. The objective and goal is to have all of our students enrolled in college during their junior and senior years while still attending high school. The senior class of 2010 was the first class to graduate from the Early College High School. Many students throughout the years have graduated with their Associate Degree at no cost for the student or parents. Hidalgo ISD provides the right tools to help students succeed and prepare for their future. Furthermore, HECHS was recognized in the US News and World Report America’s Best High Schools, and was also one of only three high schools in the nation to be awarded the 2009 College Board Inspiration Award.
Early Childhood Program
Get a head start on your child's Education at no cost, here in Hidalgo Independent School District! The Early Childhood Program aims to build a solid educational foundation for young students, that includes enduring benefits for young minds. The students must be 3 or 4 years of age by September 1, 2022.
National Blue Ribbon Schools
It is with great pride that Hidalgo Independent School District announces the three elementary schools: Hidalgo Elementary (2021), Hidalgo Park Elementary (2019), and J.C. Kelly Elementary (2018) as National Blue Ribbon Schools for their progress in closing achievement gaps! This award affirms the selfless love, dedication, hard work, perseverance, determination, and dedication of educators, families, and communities by creating a safe and welcoming environment where students meet and strengthen their academic, social emotional, and mental health needs. This was a team effort and Hidalgo ISD is a solid example of that. As Mr.Tinoco says, "Porque cuando uno gana, TODOS ganamos aqui, en Hidalgo ISD!"
